Une quiche nommée loally

Christchurch ; donc… Une ville à décrire en deux temps (en La : aaaaah… Pom !)

Il était une fois, avant le tremblement de terre. Les habitants étaient vus du reste de la Nouvelle Zélande comme de méchants petits personnages et jamais contents. On les appellera les Grinchs perpétuels, tiens !

Ils sortaient pour la plupart du temps, dans les bars se trouvant en centre-ville et se connaissaient tous les uns les autres.

Seulement, un jour de février 2011, un tremblement de terre vint semer la tourmente, dans cette ville au cap sud du pays des kiwis. Un séisme de magnétude 6.3 trembla trois minutes et rasa le centre-ville et notamment ; la totalité des bars et des discothèques.

Les habitants, perdus, tristes et tourmentés à la fois, avaient dès lors, égaré toute source d’occupation.

Et de là, les Grinchs changèrent totalement d’attitude.

N’ayant plus aucun loisir, les habitants se retrouvèrent chez les uns pour boire quelques verres et fumer quelques joints, puis chez les autres pour entamer quelques bières et fumer quelques calumets.

Tout était méconnaissable dans la ville et leur attitude, surtout….

(Cependant, c’était toutefois usant de rencontrer une quinzaine de personnages par jour pour ma part….)

Alors, dès que des backpackers arrivèrent dans la ville, les Grinchs les invitèrent même à séjourner chez eux, et boire quelques alcools et fumer quelques joints, tous les soirs, chez les uns, puis chez les autres. Ils étaient même aimables, sensibles et relataient de ce tremblement de terre, avec beaucoup de nostalgie et d’émotion.

Les backpackers, durant leur séjour à Christchurch, enjoignaient les locaux à visiter le musée et le jardin botanique, presque-uniques résistants du séisme.

Les Grinchs, quant à eux, emmenèrent les backpackers au Victoria's Park, là où fût tournée le film basé d’une histoire varie : « Heavenly Creatures » et à Lyttleton où fût tourné le film « Fantômes Contre Fantômes » tout deux signés Peter Jackson.

Les backpackers apportèrent beaucoup de fraîcheur dans la vie des Grinchs et les Grinchs échangèrent avec plaisir leurs souvenirs d’avant et d’après ce tremblement de terre.

Finalement, les Grinchs et les backpackers se marièrent et eurent beaucoup d’enfants, qui buvaient des alcools et fumaient de l’herbe, chez les voisins, puis chez les enfants des voisins.

Christchurch, before and after the earthquake

So, Christchurch, a city to describe in two tenses (In F; AAAAAhhhh…).

Once upon a time, before the earthquake

The inhabitants from Christchurch were seen by the rest of New Zealand as little unhappy characters which were never nice with others.

I’ll call them the eternal Grinches, then!

For most of them, they came out in bars and nightclubs from downtownand knew all of the other inhabitants around.

On day of February 2011, an earthquake came to destroy the town center. An earthquake of a 6.3 magnitude which lasted three minutes, obliterating the nightclubs and bars.

The Grinches, sad and tormented at the same time, completely changed their behavior…

Having no hobbies left, they spent their times at a friend’s place to have some drinks and some smokes and to other friends’ places, to have some alcohol and joints.

Nothing was familiar, anymore, in their ways of life.

So, as soon as backpackers came by, the Grinches invited them to sleep over at their houses, to have some drinks and smokes in their friends’ places.

(I reckon it was quite shaking to meet around 15 people in one afternoon, though! )

They were even likeable and talked about the earthquake with nostalgia and much emotion.

The backpackers invited the Grinches to visit the museum, the botanic garden and the art gallery, a few of the spare buildings in town…

The Grinches invited the backpackers to visit the Victoria Park, where was shot the famous movie from Peter Jackson, based on a true story and called “Heavenly Creatures”, or Lyttelton, where was shot the movie “The Frighteners”, still from Peter Jackson!

 The backpackers brought much freshness and new hobbies to the Grinches and the Grinches exchanged their souvenirs from before and after the earthquake.

Grinches and backpackers lived happily ever and after and had some drinks and smokes at their neighbors' and children’s places.
